The CIS Microsoft Edge Benchmark v4.0.0 defines 128 controls covering Edge browser hardening: extension management, SmartScreen, password manager, autofill, content settings, network settings, and enterprise-managed policy enforcement via Group Policy or Microsoft Intune. CISGuard's endpoint agent validates Edge configuration on each endpoint.
Edge and Chrome share the Chromium engine, so many controls overlap (extension management, content settings). Edge-specific controls cover SmartScreen, Microsoft Defender integration, and Edge-specific policy templates. The two benchmarks apply together for environments running both browsers.
Yes. Edge IE Mode (for legacy enterprise applications) has specific CIS recommendations: site lists managed centrally, ActiveX restrictions, security zone enforcement. CISGuard validates the IE Mode configuration on Edge endpoints where IE Mode is enabled.
Yes. Edge supports policy delivery via Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, and Microsoft Edge management service (cloud-managed). CISGuard reads the effective policy regardless of delivery mechanism and reports per-endpoint compliance against the CIS benchmark.
